Hi all,

I am working on this now...as a part of the major outage we had just before Christmas, I did manage a pretty big win in that now I can offer access via IPv6 to those who know what it is and have an ISP that support it.

This means that as the current traditional IPv4 addresses run out, people may eventually only be given an IPv6 address on the Internet. That is certainly a ways down the track but I can now support it and am about to implement it.

It doesn't make up for that huge outage but at least we scored a bit of a win!

And as promised, IPv6 is ready to roll!

If you have access to the new IPv6 (note, you either have this via a 4to6 tunnel which YOU would have setup or your ISP offer this natively with your connection to the Internet) you can try and access things via these addresses:

http://www.v6.jonathanbrandis.us/ or http://www.v6.jonathan-brandis.org/ for the main website

and

http://forums.v6.jonathanbrandis.us/ or http://forums.v6.jonathan-brandis.org/ for the forums

If you get a timeout error connecting to any of these, then chances are you probably don't have access to IPv6 yet :)

Okay AdamK, thanks for the info. :)

For the tech savvy, the site now operates on both IPv4 AND IPv6 using the normal website links. If you support IPv6 your browser will automatically use this, if not, you'll use the normal IPv4 service.

I'm sure Lucas Wolenczak would have approved of this :)

YAY! (I guess?) or BOO! (or...?)
Whatever the appropriate reaction should be.
I'm not only NOT a tech head, I never played on...anywhere. :seeingstars:

Essentially, the original Internet is running out of addresses.
There is an extension to the Internet called IPv6, which means there are trillions of addresses available for all of our phones, computers, laptops, iPad's and so forth.
In the not too distant future there will be people who only get IPv6 addresses assigned to them when they are on the Internet, and they may not be able to view older servers and setups.
The changes I made sort this by ensuring that whatever happens everyone can view our website, galleries, videos and forums.

Hopefully I haven't FURTHER confused you!
If so I can send Spike over to help out.

That clarifies things...
Remember that, before 2003 or so I hadn't even sent an e-mail!
