You know what, Garbanzo? Even though I AM discarnate, I'm not gonna forget... and you know what else? Yep. I'm gonna go off on a tangent. I'm gonna use Kel here to channel what I really think of that moron. I'm gonna give that son of a b'tch a piece of my discarnate mind. He had no right, no right whatsoever, to do that to my Mom, and worse, to use my name on his piece of sh't film like he had my permission. He didn't. And if I do nothing else in this world, I AM going to prove this is me... if for no other reason, to teach that asshole a lesson.
There.
I'm finished.
Yeah? How do you like them apples, Cam Archer?

Archer's punishment is to be Archer,
(though he DID nail Iris!)

I've been re-reading James Patterson's Alex Cross series and I'm not sure what happened with Along Came A Spider! The film is completely different to the book, right down to the way they pronounce the bad guy's name.....Makes you wonder why they bother making book adaptations if they're just gonna change everything anyway!

The best I can figure is that it has something to do with that pesky sentence "based on the novel ________ ". A lot of times, the film is VERY loosely based on it. But simply being tied to the novel can still bring in a lot of people, even if they end up being disgusted. They still paid to see it. That, and discussions on how bad it was, which still are bringing attention to it.

I see your 'loosely' and raise you a 'tenuously' :D I think sometimes all they keep are the names of the characters!

And that would be why I'm generally not a fan of films or TV shows based on novels. I can name on one hand how many of them are good, accurate portrayals.

The Green Mile was pretty spot-on.

Um......*ponders*........

.........hmm. I was gonna say Lord of the Rings, but maybe not. All things considered, they were pretty good.

What about all these comic book adaptations? Anyone know whether they stick to the story?

No idea. I watched Smallville and saw the Superman movies. Heard a lot of talk on how they all differed from the comic series, then I heard the comic series was altering to fit in with Smallville's timeline and plotline, since the show was so popular.

I've seen the first couple of series of Smallville but there were a lot of people slating the later series and saying it was too far-fetched. Always makes me laugh when they say that about these type of shows. He's meant to be an alien with super powers who's flying around the earth saving people and defeating bad guys who also have strange and unusual powers. Wasn't that far-fetched enough for them? :D
